We are delighted to announce that we have recently completed a flagship project, The Department Store, Brixton for our client Squire & Partners alongside our sister company, RSE Building Services.
Squire & Partners required an extension to accommodate 300 architects and staff plus a 4,767m2 design studio. This included a new social rooftop space with a series of pavilions, a staff café, gallery/seminar space, model shop and staff facilities.
During this project, it was imperative that the existing historic character of the building was retained. As a result, we employed a variety of innovative services and technology, including Faro Point Cloud Scanning, Trimble RTS Setting Out and a fully co-ordinated 3D Revit Model. Services carried out included co-ordination of all MEP services, lighting installation and a Building Management System, creating minimal disruption to the existing fabric of the building.
Utilising innovative technology, we provided accurate scans for every installation including lights, air conditioning units and CCTV systems. We ensured that every installation was fitted aesthetically, including the creation of a bespoke power pole system made with 67mm brass and copper parts. The client requested a painted finish to the containment and bracketry, thus we provided an electrolyticly dipped product that finished the containment in a gold effect.
As a business that regularly goes above and beyond, we even accompanied the client on a trip to Valencia to meet the lighting designer and input into the design of the bespoke FLOS luminaires. Accurate measurements were taken to ensure that these would be placed precisely within the building.
We pride ourselves on overcoming even the most logistically challenging projects and successfully co-ordinated a crane lift to lift 16 condensers and a chiller onto a plant platform on the roof as it was not feasible to manoeuvre these through the building. This included implementing a road closure, resulting in minimal disruption.
Our commitment to health and safety on this project resulted in being one of only 300 businesses to be internationally awarded with a British Safety Council Health & Safety Award.
